Build a two-flight checklist
Write one line for each leg: operating airline, full flight number, local departure date, airport codes and terminal if confirmed. Keep your booking reference private. A single ticket can contain more than one airline, and a marketed flight number may differ from the operating number.
If the itinerary crosses midnight, use the departure date of each individual leg. Do not search both legs on the first flight’s date automatically. Check the arrival airport and next departure airport even if both are described by the same city name.
Follow the first arrival and the next boarding deadline
A useful connection check has two sides: when the first flight is expected to reach its arrival point, and what the next flight requires for boarding. Comparing an estimated landing with a scheduled departure alone omits taxiing, disembarkation and movement through the airport.
Follow the airport’s transfer instructions for your itinerary. You may need security, immigration, a terminal transfer or baggage collection; do not assume a map can identify which steps apply. There is no universal number of minutes that makes every connection safe.
If the first flight is running late
Refresh both official status results and open your airline’s current booking information. Check messages from the airline for a changed onward service. British Airways, for example, directs passengers who miss a connection at Heathrow to its Flight Connections customer-service desk; follow your own carrier’s instructions at your airport.
If flights were booked separately, tell the onward airline that fact when asking for help. Do not assume that a procedure described for one through-booking applies to separate tickets. We do not determine rebooking eligibility or promise that another flight will wait.
Use the tracker for context
Open a separate map search for each flight number. The first aircraft reaching an airport does not mean your next aircraft, gate or boarding pass is ready. If a booking is changed, update the saved search to the new number.
For someone meeting a connecting passenger, share the final operating flight number and local arrival date. Confirm the final flight with the airline and use direct communication for pickup. If one marker disappears, that alone does not establish a missed connection or cancellation.

We review terminology against aviation and airline sources, test examples against the behavior of our own tracker, and separate position data from passenger-status claims. We do not invent a live status when a data source is missing. Corrections can be sent through the contact page.
