Start with the identifier on your itinerary

A flight number usually combines an airline code with a number. Copy that complete identifier rather than the airline name alone. DL123 is a format example, not a claim that a particular flight is operating now. A booking reference identifies a reservation and should not be entered into a public tracker.

If someone sends you a tracker callsign, keep the complete letters and numbers. Your ticket’s passenger flight number and the identifier broadcast by an aircraft may differ. Converting an airline prefix is useful in some cases, but it does not resolve every callsign or codeshare.

Open the flight on our map

Use the search field below. The button sends the entered text to the realtime app, which checks it and searches the available live data. A matching result opens the flight details. If the app reports no match, that does not mean the flight has been cancelled.

For a shareable link, the format is https://realtime.liveflighttrackermap.com/?flight=DL123. Replace the example with the complete number. This link starts a live search; it does not select a travel date or retrieve a historical journey. The same number may be reused on different days.

Check that the result is the flight you mean

Compare the callsign, airline and any available departure and destination airports with your itinerary. A registration identifies an aircraft, not a permanent passenger service. If the displayed route seems wrong, stop and check the operating airline rather than assuming the map is authoritative.

Codeshares can put more than one passenger flight number on the same service. Look for “operated by” on the booking, then check that operator’s official status page. Our airline directory links to those services.

If the search has no live match

Check for a typing error or a copied booking reference. Try the complete operating-airline flight number or a known callsign. A flight may be on the ground, outside available coverage, or absent during a service interruption. Repeatedly changing random letters is unlikely to identify it reliably.

Our map is for available positions and aircraft details. Use the airline or airport for scheduled, estimated and actual times, gate changes and cancellation confirmation. For a flight on another date, use a service that explicitly supports that date.

Try a live flight search

Enter a flight number or callsign from any airline, for example DL123 or CPA873. The map will check your entry and show a live match or a message.

How this guide is maintained

We review terminology against aviation and airline sources, test examples against the behavior of our own tracker, and separate position data from passenger-status claims. We do not invent a live status when a data source is missing. Corrections can be sent through the contact page.
